What was your college major and do you use it in your current career?

CB: My husband and I got married right out of high school, so I never went to college. I have always thought that maybe someday I might go back to school. However, at this point in my life I don’t think it would help me.

What’s the best professional advice you’ve ever received?

CB: My first job was at Allstate Insurance Company where I worked for 5 ½ years before we started our family. While working at Allstate, I asked lots of questions. My boss told me one day that if I really thought about it, I could answer my own questions. That taught me to think things or situations through before asking questions. He told me I had a good mind and to use it.

What’s your trick to managing personal life vs. work life?

CB: When you walk out the door at night, leave work at the office. I never let work consume my life. It is hard to do, and it takes years of conditioning. When you leave for work, take off your personal hat and put on your work hat. Start thinking about what needs to be done for the day. Sometimes during the day you might have to put on your mom hat or your wife hat, but when you walk out the door, take your work hat off and don’t put it back on until you head back to the office the next day.

What’s your proudest moment of your career?

CB: My proudest moment is each time our company receives an award; it reminds me that I have a great staff. They work together as a team to make us the very best that we can possibly be. My desire or goal was never to be the biggest but to be the best. All of the hard work has helped TempStaff to be the leader in staffing in our market.

What is your favorite item in your office? Tell us the story behind it.

CB: The picture of my family is my favorite item. It always helps to keep things in perspective. Second would be all of the clocks that I collect. I have about 15, and I love to hear them tick because it is so relaxing.

How do you stay motivated?

CB: I am not a worrier, so I enjoy every day to its fullest. I love being around people that are high energy and that are positive. It takes a lot to make me mad. Actually, I think I have really been mad about twice in the last couple of years.
